I carried out this animated short film for the National Gallery, for the project Transcription Animation.
The short film is inspired on the painting Ruggiero and Angelica, which is part of the National Gallery collection.
The original story of the painting comes from the Orlando Furioso, an Italian epic poem from the late Middle Age. I was always captivated by this paiting by Jean-August Dominique Ingres, so I decided to base my animation on it, but only for the look of my characters.
The soundtrack of my film was composed and performed by Debora Morgante, a very talented musician and a very close friend of mine, who is also the lead guitarist and vocalist of The Nessie Scream, one of the official Italian Gary Moore cover bands.
At the bottom of this page there is a short gallery with few of the character designs I did for the project.
